Children who have lived in the UK for 7 years

As part of the Government's announcement to changes to the Immigration Rules on family migration, the Home Office has set a period of 7 years as the minimum period of residence for a child to remain in the United Kingdom.

This is good news for most as it is in line with the old policy DP5/96 which allowed children who have been in the UK for the same period to be granted leave to remain.

Applicants under the age of 18 will be granted leave for a period of 30 months if their application is successful.
