Applications based on Private Life in the UK

 

 

 

The rules governing applications for leave to remain in the UK on the basis of Article 8 of the Human Rights is now divided into the following categories:-

 

Children under 18 years will be granted leave if they have lived in the UK for 7 years:

 

Young adults aged 18 to 24 will be granted leave if they have lived in the UK for half of their life. For example, a 20 year old applicant would have to show 10 years residence in the UK

 

Adults aged 25 and above will be granted leave if they have lived in the UK for 20 years, or if they have no family, friends or social ties to their country 

 

In all of the above, the period of leave to be granted will be for 30 months.
